Once completed, you’ll need to attend an orientation session at our ReStore. Orientation will cover paperwork, a basic background check, and safety training. Please note: you must bring a valid photo ID, and any volunteers under 18 must attend with a parent or guardian.
Our Orientation Sessions Are On:
**If you’re not interested in volunteering at our ReStore and are only interested in working on our construction sites, please call (405)366-2813 and speak with the Volunteer Coordinator for further details.
Getting started on volunteering with Rose Rock Habitat for Humanity is easy, and we have a few options available. The first step to any of these is registration.
Construction volunteering opportunities are available occasionally for adult volunteers only, and the best way to be notified of these opportunities is to place yourself on the construction volunteering waitlist. Construction volunteer events may include tasks affected by the weather, meaning plans may be changed based on the safety of volunteers and employees. Construction volunteer opportunities are most available in the late spring through early autumn.
Cleanup and Beautification volunteer events are another occasional choice for adults interested in outdoor volunteering. At cleanup and beautification events, we would be helping a resident or neighborhood refresh the outside of their dwelling or dwellings by removing debris, gardening, performing basic landscaping, painting, and doing minor repairs on fences and homes. This is another type of event that is affected by the weather. Like construction events, cleanup and beautification are concentrated in late spring through early fall. A wait list is available on the registration page if no opportunities are listed.
Adopt-a-park cleanups occur at least once per quarter/season. We have adopted Legacy Trail and Oakhurst Park to show our commitment to building community here in Norman, and as part of the park adoption, we must do a cleanup on each park at least 4 times per year, or once per quarter/season. Park cleanups are family friendly events, and volunteers of all ages are encouraged to join in. Not all jobs will be right for age groups, however, so please check job descriptions for age requirements. A wait list is available on the registration page if no opportunities are listed.
Special Events are often gatherings like fairs or festivals where Rose Rock Habitat for Humanity may host a booth or information table. Ideally, people who volunteer for this event type are familiar with Habitat for Humanity by volunteering with us, shopping with us often, being friends or family of a Habitat employee or homeowner, or working with another Habitat affiliate. Volunteers at this kind of event will help Habitat staff by being a friendly, knowledgeable ambassador of Habitat for Humanity to the public.
Finally, the easiest and fastest way to get involved in volunteering with Rose Rock Habitat for Humanity is by volunteering at the ReStore. The ReStore is a resale store specializing in resale of building materials, tools, appliances, furniture, housewares & decor, and books. Proceeds from the sale of these items go towards Rose Rock Habitat’s mission of building homes, community, and hope. Volunteers at the ReStore must attend an orientation before volunteering. After the orientation, however, individuals may volunteer anytime the ReStore is open without scheduling shifts in advance. The orientations occur four times per week: Tuesdays at 3:30pm, Thursdays at 10:00am, and Saturdays at 10:00am and Noon. Walk-ins are accepted at these scheduled orientations. If none of these times work for you, accommodation may be made at the discretion of the Community Outreach Administrator. Due to the flexibility ReStore volunteering offers, it is a popular choice for people working court ordered community service, volunteering for course credit, and volunteering for academic honors programs.

Habitat for Humanity has safety as our number one concern when dealing with minor volunteers, and for that reason their involvement is limited to certain event types.
Volunteers 14+ are welcome at the Habitat for Humanity ReStore after they attend an orientation if a liability waiver is completed by a legal adult guardian. Volunteers aged 14-17 must perform their work on the sales floor only, and their duties are limited to cleaning and custodial tasks, along with customer service. If this sounds right, please have them register by clicking here or visiting this URL: https://roserockhabitat.volunteerlocal.com/volunteer/?id=70166
Note: when filling out an application for a minor, please upload your (the adult guardian) ID where the form asks for an ID and use your name when signing the waiver at the end of the application. All other information should be that of the minor volunteer.
Volunteers under 14 may only be allowed at Adopt-a-park events, and some special events. Please check with Community Outreach Administrator Matthew Allen-Morgan at [email protected] or calling or texting 405-476-3943 for more information.
Rose Rock Habitat for Humanity often works with people of different ability levels, and we can usually accommodate disabled volunteers. If you’re not certain about your eligibility, please contact the Community Outreach Administrator Matthew Allen-Morgan at [email protected] or calling or texting 405-476-3943 to discuss your situation.

Yes. For safety and procedural integrity, all volunteers in a group must register online for their event. We use the online registration to print a list of all emergency information that applies to your group (e.g., emergency contact information, medical conditions and allergies, etc.). Also, filling out paperwork on the day of the event by passing around clipboards and pens can take a half-hour or more—filling out
the forms online takes an individual 3-4 minutes. If an applicant that is part of your group has any issues completing the forms, they may contact Community Outreach Administrator Matthew Allen-Morgan at [email protected] or by calling or texting 405-476-3943.
