Jeremy Sparks was born in Wichita, Kansas however he calls Oklahoma home. In 1980 his family moved to Ponca City, Oklahoma where Jeremy went on to graduate from high school. Jeremy began working at one of the local funeral homes due to his family’s friendship with the owner. It had always been a desire of Jeremy’s to become a doctor therefore working at the funeral home was just a job with no thoughts of it becoming his future career. However when ask today about career choice, Jeremy is quick to say, “I feel as I am following the plans the Lord had for my professional life each and every day.” After graduation, Jeremy began his apprenticeship while attending Northern Oklahoma College at Trout Funeral Home and went on to complete his apprenticeship at Vondel Smith Mortuary in Oklahoma City. He continued his undergraduate studies at the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond. While at UCO, Jeremy was active in the Sigma Phi Sigma serving as President for two years. Upon graduation from UCO with a Bachelor of Science degree, he served as a Funeral Director/Embalmer at Vondel Smith Mortuary as well as Trout Funeral Home. Jeremy joined the Dignity Memorial network of Funeral Homes and Cemeteries in 2002 where he served as a Funeral Director, Personal Care Center Manager, Location Manager, Director of Funeral Home Operations and General Manager. In 2014 Jeremy was named the Managing Partner of Resthaven Funeral Home and Memory Gardens in Oklahoma City. In 2019 he rejoined the Dignity Memorial network where he provides leadership for the Oklahoma Market made up of 11 Funeral Homes and 7 cemeteries. Outside of work Sparks has served in a host of capacities with the Oklahoma Funeral Directors Association serving as its President from 2014-2015; he is a past board member of the University Of Central Oklahoma Alumni Association and the Will Rogers Council of the Boy Scouts of America. Jeremy currently serves as the Chairman of the South Oklahoma City Chamber of Commerce, the South OKC Political Action Committee Board of Directors, President of Rose Rock Habitat for Humanity Board of Directors and the University of Central Oklahoma Funeral Service Advisory Committee. He holds memberships in the Oklahoma Funeral Directors Association, the International Cemetery, Cremation and Funeral Association, the Capitol Hill breakfast group, National Funeral Directors Association and is an alumni of Team South as well as Leadership Norman. Sparks is a Boy Scouts of America Eagle Scout and has earned the designation of Certified Funeral Service Practitioner (CFSP) from the Academy of Professional Funeral Service Practice.
