Hope on the Horizon Benefit Concert

The Hope on the Horizon Benefit Concert brought music, unity and hope to Shawnee, Oklahoma, after a devastating tornado struck on April 19, 2023. This event took place on Friday, July 21st starting at 4:30pm. The concert, organized in response to the tornado, featured a street fair with local musicians, food trucks, inflatables, face painting, vendors, and more. The evening concluded with a VIP concert at The Ritz theater.

The purpose of the benefit concert was to support the ongoing tornado recovery efforts and contribute to community revitalization and emergency repair projects led by Rose Rock Habitat for Humanity. Attendees had the opportunity to enjoy a diverse lineup of local and well-known musicians, coming together to support Shawnee’s recovery.

This event not only provided a night of incredible music but also allowed attendees to make a direct impact on the lives of those affected by the tornado. Throughout the concert, there were opportunities for information sharing, where attendees could learn more about the recovery efforts and hear stories of hope.

“We believe in the power of music to heal, inspire, and bring communities together,” said April Grant, Community Engagement Coordinator with Rose Rock Habitat for Humanity.  “Through this event, we aimed to support the Shawnee community in their recovery efforts, while reminding them that they are not alone. Together, we can create a brighter future.”

Hope on the Horizon Benefit Concert encouraged local businesses, organizations and community members to become sponsors and actively participate in the event. Sponsorship opportunities offered various benefits, including brand visibility, media exposure and exclusive access to special events.

Tickets for the concert were available for purchase online, with proceeds directly funding community revitalization and emergency repair projects. With over 350 guests in attendance at the street fair and 100 guests at the Ritz VIP show, the event successfully raised $10,000 on top of the $20,000 recovery grant from Habitat for Humanity International.

The Hope on the Horizon Benefit Concert was a success and the resilient Shawnee community is making their way to recovery with an even brighter future on the horizon!
